Section 22 of The Bengal Village Self-Government Act, 1919 — Power to fine dafadars and chaukidars

Any dafadar or chaukidar who is guilty of any wilful misconduct in his office, or neglect of his duty, such misconduct or neglect not being of so grave a character as in the opinion of the District Magistrate or the union board, as the case may be, require his dismissal, shall be liable to be punished by the District Magistrate with fine not exceeding the amount of one month's salary or by the union board with fine not exceeding one quarter of a month's salary.
