About EasyActs.in

EasyActs.in is a free, public reference library of Indian legislation. It publishes the text of Central and State Acts alongside the original government PDF each Act was extracted from, in a form that is searchable, cross-linked, and readable on a phone.

Why it exists

India's legislation is public, but it is not accessible. The official repositories hold the authoritative documents and little else: no full-text search across Acts, no section-level addressing, no cross-references you can click, and source PDFs that are frequently slow, scanned, or several navigation layers deep. A reader who wants one section of one Act pays the cost of that every time.

This site closes that gap without displacing the official record. Every Act page carries the government source document it was built from, on the same domain, one click away.

Where the text comes from

Statutory text is ingested from official repositories — principally India Code, maintained by the Ministry of Law and Justice, and the legislative departments of individual State governments. Where an Act reached the library from another public repository, the page names that source explicitly.

Section structure — chapters, parts, schedules, section numbering, marginal notes — is derived programmatically from those documents and reconciled against the source pagination. Nothing is retyped, paraphrased, or reconstructed from memory: the text on a section page is extracted from the document linked on that page.

The two layers

Official legislative text — the statutory provisions and the source PDF. This is the primary record and it carries no commentary.

Educational study layer — plain-language summaries, worked examples, FAQs, flowcharts, mind maps, quizzes and Act Explained guides, each built directly from the section text it sits beside and labelled wherever it appears. What this site is not

Corrections

Accuracy of the statutory text is the standard we hold ourselves to, and every report is acted on. If a section reads wrong, write to [email protected] with the Act and section — a link to the page is enough.
