Section 2 of Odisha Universities (Amendment) Act, 2024 — Amendment to Section 2

In the Odisha Universities Act, 1989 (hereinafter referred as the Principal Act), in Section 2,-

1. (a)clause (d-1) shall be omitted;
2. (b)for clause (f), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:- “(f) ‘Director’ means the Director of Higher Education, Odisha or his representative”;
3. (c)after clause (f), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:-

“(f-1) “distance education system” means the system of imparting education

through any means of communication, such as broadcasting, telecasting, internet, correspondence courses, seminars, contact programmes or the combination of any two or more such means” Amendment to Section 2.

1. (d)after clause (g), the following clauses shall be inserted, namely:–
   1. (i)“(g-1)“NAAC” means National Assessment and Accreditation Council”;
   2. (ii)“(g-2) “NBA” means National Board of Accreditation”; and
   3. (iii)“(g-3) “NIRF” means the National Institutional Ranking Framework”.
2. (e)after clause (k), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:- “(k-1) “related to” means any blood relation or marriage relation or adoption relations or business partner or associate relations between the Selection Committee member and the candidate for the post of teacher or any other academic post.”;
3. (f)after clause (l), the following clauses shall be inserted, namely:─
   1. (i)“(l-1) “Senate” means the senate of the University as constituted under section 9 of the Act”; and
   2. (ii)“(ll-2) “Schedule” means a schedule appended to this Act.”
