The Vice-Chancellor
- (1)The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Chancellor in consultation with the State Government from amongst three persons recommended by a committee appointed for the purpose under sub-section (2).
- (2)The Chancellor shall appoint a committee which shall consist of three members, one of whom shall be appointed by the Chancellor, one shall be nominated by the Executive Council and one by the State Government. The Chancellor shall appoint one of the members of the committee to be its Chairman.
- (3)The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a term of three years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a second term.
- (4)The Vice-Chancellor shall be a whole-time officer of the University and shall receive such salary and allowances as may be prescribed by the statutes.
- (5)In the event of the post of Vice-Chancellor falling vacant due to death, resignation or any other cause, the vacancy shall be filled in the manner provided in sub-section (1). Provided that until the appointment is so made, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, if any, or if there is no Pro-Vice-Chancellor, the senior most Professor in the University shall carry on the current duties of the Vice-Chancellor.
