Amendment of section 511 359. In the principal Act, in section 511, for the existing entries, the following shall be substituted, namely:-- "511. Any person who contravenes any of the provisions of this Act or of any rule or by-law made thereunder or fails to comply with any order or direction lawfully given to him or any requisition lawfully made to him under any of the said provisions, rules or by-laws, shall, when no penalty is expressly provided for such contravention or failure, be punishable with fine which may extend to five thousand rupees and in the case of a continuing contravention or failure, with an additional fine which may extend to five hundred rupees for every day during which such contravention or failure continues after conviction for the first such contravention or failure: Provided that in case of any offence relating to sanitation and public health, the fine shall be as determined by the Government from time to time."
