In sub-section (2) of section 17 of the principal Code, for the words "shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine not exceeding twenty-five thousand rupees, or with both", the words, figures and signs "shall be punishable according to the provisions contained in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (Act No. 45 of 2023)" shall be substituted.
