Summary
- The Central or State Government can make Aadhaar a requirement for receiving subsidies, benefits, or services.
- This requirement applies when the money for these benefits comes from the Consolidated Fund of India or a State.
- To get these benefits, a person may have to undergo authentication or show proof of having an Aadhaar number.
- If a person does not have an Aadhaar number yet, they must be allowed to apply for one to meet the requirement.
- While waiting for an Aadhaar number to be assigned, the government must provide other viable ways to prove identity so benefits are not denied.
