Section 11 of KARNATAKA ACT NO. 11 OF 2012
Inspection.- (1) The Chancellor shall have the right to cause an inspection or inquiry to be made, by such person or persons as he may direct, of the University, its buildings, University libraries, museums and equipments, and of any institutions maintained or recognised by the University and also of the research, teaching and other work conducted or done by the University, and to cause an inquiry to be made in respect of any matter connected with the University. The Chancellor shall in every case give notice to the University of his intention to cause such inspection or inquiry to be made and the University shall be entitled to be represented thereat.
- (2)The Chancellor shall communicate to the Syndicate of his views with reference to the results of such inspection or inquiry and may after ascertaining the opinion of the Syndicate thereon advice the University upon the action to be taken and fix a time limit for taking such action.
- (3)The Syndicate shall report to the Chancellor the action, if any, which is proposed to be taken or has been taken upon the results of such inspection or inquiry. Such report shall be submitted within such time as the Chancellor may direct.
- (4)Where the Syndicate does not take action to the satisfaction of the Chancellor within the time limit as may be fixed under sub-section (2), the Chancellor may, after considering any explanation furnished or representation made by the Syndicate, issue such directions as he may think fit and the Syndicate shall comply with such directions. In the event of the Syndicate not complying with such directions by the Chancellor, the Chancellor shall have power to appoint any person or body to comply with such directions and make such orders as may be necessary for the expenses thereof.
- (5)The Chancellor shall exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred on him by or under this Act.
